A Recent Bust Nets $34,000 Worth Of Meth
Agents with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Unit recently arrested two people after finding thousands of dollars worth of drugs at their home.
According to officials with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, their officers had been doing surveillance on a home in the 7000 block of Soileau Rd before the the deputies went to raid the place.
They were able to get a search warrant for the property, and the agents then went to work in the home. Multiple agents from the Special Investigation Unit went inside of the home to see what kind of drugs they were able to find. The activity at this address had been observed via surveillance by law enforcement.
The two people arrested at the home were Marlon Charles and Josephine Charles.
They were found to be in possession of 3.76 pounds of Methamphetamine and a handgun as you can't be a felon and possess a handgun.
According to officials, the street value of the Methamphetamine totaled around $34,000.
Deputies booked the two into the Iberia Parish Jail on a host of charges including the following:
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of a juvenile
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
The raid on what agents believe was the illegal activity happened on Friday afternoon.
According to officials with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Unit, they do anticipate that more arrests will be made in connection with this case.
They say that their investigation is an active one, and they are still probing different aspects of this case.
