Friends of Elemore, LLC, a new organization whose sole purpose is to raise funds in support of the Elemore Morgan Jr. Visual Arts Endowment, will present the two-time Grammy Award winning Turtle Island Quartet in concert with a special appearance by Michael Doucet on Friday, March 11 - 8 p.m. in the James Devin Moncus Theatre of the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette.

 The Elemore Morgan Jr. Visual Arts Endowment’s mission is to demonstrate that the visual arts are significant cultural necessities by supporting, promoting, enhancing and strengthening the visual arts, primarily in south Louisiana. To further the endowment's mission, funds will support programming--exhibitions, symposia, workshops-- visual arts activities and scholarship, reflecting the passion and life-long vocation of Elemore Morgan Jr.

The Turtle Island Quartet is a two time GRAMMY®-winning chamber music string quartet whose unique fuses the classical quartet esthetic with contemporary American musical styles, and by devising a performance practice that honors both, the state of the art has inevitably been redefined.  The quartet will perform interpretations of works by legendary guitarist, songwriter and performer Jimi Hendrix.
