The annual "Black the Blue" event is taking place today at Cajun Harley-Davidson in Scott.

This event is a great way for families to come together to show their support for local law enforcement while having fun at the same time.

The kids will have a blast with the activities lined up for the event: face-painting, fun jumps, a build-and-grow clinic, and a dunk-a-cop booth.

Other activities for the day include safety seat checks for parents, finger-printing with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office for the kids, the Lafayette Police Department's Mounted Patrol, and police and other emergency response vehicles from many local departments.

The event will feature food and drinks, t-shirt sales, and a raffle.

The announcement of the officer or deputy chosen to receive the Corporal Michael Middlebrook Humanitarian Award will be announced at the event, as well.
