Breaux Bridge Alumni Bringing Music Back
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) — Alumni from Breaux Bridge High School have come together to give their alma mater a band again.
In 2011, after former band director James Whitlow retired, Breaux Bridge High School's band program faded away.
Now, former Breaux Bridge students tell The Advertiser of Lafayette (http://bit.ly/14ZRVLU) that they are putting together an alumni band. And they are building it from scratch with borrowed sheet music and instruments.
Alumni from across Acadiana — and some from as far as Houston, Texas — have dedicated their weekends to practicing with former band members from classes as recent as 2010 and as long ago as 1984.
