Brian Crawford: What Happened to the SFD ‘Super Station’ [VIDEO]
Brian Crawford, former Shreveport Fire Chief, Chief Administrative Officer and currently Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Willis Knighton Health Systems, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about what scuttled the plan to build a "super station" to replace two aging fire facilities in the Queensborough neighborhood.
Crawford, who was chief when the 2011 $175 million bond issue was passed. tells KEEL listeners that the original idea for the combined facility was to save money and make for faster response time. He also is adamant that abandoning the project was in any way connected to Willis Knighton or WK President and CEO James Elrod, a claim made by former Mayor Cedric Glover.
Crawford also points out that monies originally set aside for the super station were used for construction for the SFD station on Baird Road and the soon to be built facility at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Missouri Street.
