Busy night for firefighters after several overnight fires
Last night was a busy night for firefighters after responding to calls for three separate overnight fires across Lafayette.
At 2:24 a.m. this morning, Lafayette firefighters responded to the 400 block of South Orange that is thought to have begun in the occupants' child's bedroom. The home sustained moderate smoke and fire damage, but everyone escaped the dwelling without any injuries.
At 2:56 a.m. firefighters were called out to a house fire in the 1000 block of E. Alexander Street which was believed to have started in the attic due to an electrical storage. The fire caused minor damage to the dwelling.
At 4:45 a.m., Lafayette firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in the 400 block of Ridge Road. After extinguishing the fire, officials determined the vehicle was reported stolen on Saturday. The vehicle was sustained heavy fire damage.
Fire investigators determined the vehicle was intentionally set on fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers (232-TIPS) or the Lafayette Fire Department at 291-8716.
