A Caddo Parish teacher faces serious charges today. 66-year-old Melody Moffett is accused of simple battery for an incident that allegedly happened at school.
Moffett is a first grade teacher at Judson Elementary. The mother of the elementary school boy says she found out about the April 20th incident when her son told her about it. She says another parent also called her about what happened.
Caddo Schools released this statement:

“The district is aware of a staff member recently arrested following an incident on one of our elementary campuses. That employee has been placed on administrative leave while the matter is under investigation. While Louisiana state law prohibits Caddo Schools from commenting on individual employees and personnel matters, Caddo believes the safety of every student is of the utmost importance. More importantly, the district does not condone any behavior in which a child may be harmed or put in danger.”

Local activists have told KSLA they encourage any other students to come forward if they believe a child has been the victim of verbal or physical abuse by any educators in our community.
