The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team was looking to keep the winning going with a win in San Marcos as they faced off against Texas State. The game was never in doubt as the Cajuns defeated the #2 team in the conference 80-55. Both of the teams struggled to score in the first half as the score was 10-4 with under 12 minutes to play in the half. The Cajuns played smothering defense to keep the Bobcats to 20 points in the first half. At one point late in the 1st half the Bobcats were only shooting 13% and they finished the game shooting 32% from the field. Coach Marlin was pleased with the team's performance, he said, "We are certainly happy, we beat a good team that had won 6 games in a row." The second half was all the same as the Bobcats had no answer for the Cajuns scoring as the Cajuns hit a 3 pointer and a dunk to start the 2nd half. The Cajuns were hot from the 3 point line as they finished 52% from behind the arc. The Cajuns never trailed in the game and they led for over 37 minutes. There always seems to be a different guy step up for the Cajuns every night and tonight it was Malik Marquetti's turn as he scored a career high 19 points and he also pulled in 5 rebounds. Frank Bartley and Justin Miller both finished with 14 points a piece while Bryce Washington finished up with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Coach Marlin talked about how this team shares the basketball and plays well together, he said, "Our guys are concerned with winning and achieving team awards and not individual ones." The Cajuns will come with the sweep and play the two Alabama schools this next week. The Cajuns will host South Alabama on Thursday night and it will be designated as a blackout game. They will then host Troy at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon as they look to remain undefeated in conference play and at home.
