Word is that $4 a gallon gas is headed our way sometime this summer. Given that this will be in the midst of a Presidential election, President Obama can't be happy about a story like that.

I rarely watch award shows but last night I watched the beginning of the Grammys and had quite a shock. LL Cool J was hosting and came out to start the show with a prayer due to the passing of Whitney Houston. Amazing! Some governmental meetings, high school football games and other activities are not allowed to start with prayer due to the ACLU but yet Cool J comes out and starts with a prayer!

So this week a research paper indicates that men with heart disease are more likely to have prostate cancer. Since having prostate cancer surgery last February I look back at my heart surgery ten years ago and think the research may be right! In addition I may be having a heart valve replacement later this month. Double wow!

Some drivers in Lafayette lost their minds Friday of last week!

I grew up driving the streets of Lafayette and am amazed that we don’t see more fatalities! After much consideration I think I’ve determined what has to be the wackiest stretch of street in Lafayette.

After sitting through about 10 minutes of MTV’s newest reality show “Caged” following the lives of aspiring MMA fighters from Shreveport/Bossier, I realized two things. 1. For MMA fighters, these guys sure talk about their feelings a lot. 2. The only reason I was watching was because these guys were from Louisiana.

Newt Gingrich recently got my undivided attention as a voter. I should say as a voter of Cajun/French ancestry. In a nationally aired commercial smearing Mitt Romney I heard the phrase "and Mitt Romney speaks French" and I was taken aback.

Recently I kept an appointment with my cardiologist and by the end of the visit I was hoping to get by without having a stroke! A two and a half hour wait to see any physician is enough to drive my blood pressure through the roof and let’s remember why I was there in the first place, high blood pressure and a history of heart problems.
