28-year-old Rod Mouille, Jr. of Church Point is behind bars after he allegedly impersonated to be a detective from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office before burglarizing a home in Palmetto.

In a press release, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says the alleged incident happened in June. Actual detectives with the St. Landry Sheriff's Office say Mouille knew the victim and did work around the house in the past, which gave him knowledge of what was inside of the home in the 100 block of Rideau Church Road. Mouille allegedly lured away the victim from his home by acting as a detective who wanted to meet with him in Opelousas.

Once inside of the victim's home, Mouille allegedly stole multiple firearms -.22 magnum pistol, 16 gauge youth shotgun, .22 caliber magnum rifle, and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol. Later in the month, Mouille allegedly contacted the victim through social media and text messages and admitted to stealing the firearms from his home then selling them to an individual.

Earlier this week, Mouille was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges:

  • Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
  • Fraudulent Personation of a Police Officer
  • Theft of a Firearm (4 Counts).

There are more arrests expected.
