Cirq du Soleil Tour Bus Catches Fire

A major vehicle fire causes a temparary shutdown of the Evangeline Thruway. Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says the tour bus for Cirq du Soleil caught fire near the intersection of Highway 90 and Verot School Road and was completely engulfed.

The driver was the only person inside the bus. He was able to get out safely.

The fire forced the shutdown of the highway for a couple of hours so SLEMCO crews could check on transmission lines directly above the fire.

Nothing else was damaged as a result of the fire.
