Couple Accused Of Stealing Money From Elderly Family Member

50-year-olds John and Alicia Hardy - both of Breaux Bridge - have been arrested after they allegedly stole and spent money from a 76-year-old family member.

St. Martin Parish investigators say John allegedly had funds removed from an account belonging to the elderly family member and then subsequently placed them into a separate account with only he and his wife, Alicia's, names on the account. Authorities say the couple subsequently spent in excess of over $106,000.00 in only a matter of fifteen months, without authorization of the family member.

They have each been charged with one count of Exploitation Of Persons With Infirmities. They have bonded out of the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. The investigation continues.
