Governor John Bel Edwards made the announcement yesterday that all state casinos would be forced to close for the next two weeks.

However, due to lack of jurisdiction, the state couldn't make the Native American run casinos shut down as well.

As suspected though, those casinos have decided to suspend operations on their own. Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel in Charenton is one of those.

The Chitimatcha Tribal leaders announced yesterday that Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel would temporarily suspend all casino, hotel, and restaurant operations for two weeks.

"We are committed to providing our team members and guests with peace of mind regarding the safety of our facility now and in the future," the Chitimacha Tribal leaders said in a news release.

Employees will be taken care of during the shutdown. Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel team members will receive their base pay during the temporary closure.
