Deputies Conduct Sex Offender Checks In Acadia Parish

Acadia Parish authorities are doing their part to make sure sex offenders aren't hurting any other victims. Last month, deputies carried out compliance checks on eighteen Tier 3 offenders withing the parish. A tier 3 sex offender is required to register for life and has committed an aggravated crime.

After heading out to their registered addresses, Chief K.P. Gibson says they spoke with neighbors to assure the sex offenders are being compliant. Deputies also spoke with the offender as well.

“We are committed to making sure that checks are completed on a monthly schedule. These compliance checks are unannounced to assure the integrity of the offender and the review process. The recent checks found that all sex offenders (18) were in compliance according to the requirements of law” stated Sheriff KP Gibson.

Deputies checked all cities within the parish, as well as the unincorporated areas of Acadia Parish.
