Two suspects are in the hospital in critical condition after St. Martin Sheriff’s deputies say they showed up to a person’s home in Breaux Bridge, one of them armed with a firearm.
Major Ginny Higgins with the Sheriff’s Office says it happened Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of Auguillard Road in Breaux Bridge. Investigators say one of the suspects rang the doorbell and when the homeowner answered the door, a second suspect appeared armed with the firearm. That’s when both suspects were shot by the homeowner. One of the suspects got away but was apprehended a short time later by deputies during a traffic stop on Latiolais Road.
Investigators say both suspects are also wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that happened in Baton Rouge late Monday evening. Authorities continue to investigate.
