Holiday family gatherings are times to make great memories with those you love.

Unfortunately, holiday family gatherings are also times that family problems tend to rear their ugly heads the most.

Father Fires Gun

One such situation happened on Easter Sunday night as children were playing on a waterslide and shooting water guns at each other. One of the kids was hit by a water gun and began crying. Instead of handling the situation like a mature adult, his father - 36-year-old Norman Alan Sammons of Jennings - allegedly began hollering at the kids and fired a 9 MM handgun into the air.

Sammons was arrested and booked into the parish jail for Illegal carry and discharge of weapons and disturbing the peace by offensive language.

Uncle Punches Niece

Another horrible family incident that happened on Easter weekend was reported on Saturday night at a home in Lacassine as a victim reported to police that she was punched in the face by her uncle, 60-year-old Ronald Keith Bonnette of Roanoke.
