FEMA Suspends Operations Today Because of Threat from Beta
Concerns over inclement weather spawned by Tropical Storm Beta over parts of storm-damaged Louisiana have prompted officials with FEMA to suspend some operations for today. FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that the shutdown is expected to be for today (Monday, September 21st) only. Regular operations are scheduled to resume tomorrow.
The affected FEMA operations are those in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis parishes. The shutdown will include all drive-thru disaster recovery centers and mobile registration intake centers.
There will be other FEMA centers open in the state. Also, the FEMA online services will remain available for those that need assistance today. That information can be accessed via the FEMA app for smartphones or by visiting FEMA.gov. You may also access services and get information on storm recovery at DisasterAssistance.gov.
If neither of those options works for you, you may dial 1-800-621-3362.
Again the closure of these particular FEMA offices is planned for today only. Barring some unforeseen changes in the track or strength of Tropical Storm Beta the drive-thru recovery centers and mobile registration intake centers should be open for business on Tuesday.
