Final Judgment: Cajuns Forced to Vacate a Total of 22 Football Victories
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will vacate a total of 22 football victories from the 2011-14 seasons as a final result of the NCAA Investigation into academic improprieties after the actions of a former assistant coach.
According to a release by the athletics department, UL will, in addition to the nine wins vacated from the 2011 season, vacate four wins from 2012, eight from 2013 and two from 2014.
Included in those are the 2011 and 2013 New Orleans Bowl victories, along with their co-championship in the Sun Belt Conference in 2013.
The NCAA Committee on Infractions ordered all wins that involved an ineligible player be vacated. The announcement today comes after UL was able to identify exactly which games an ineligible player participated.
In its report, Head Coach Mark Hudspeth was exonerated from any wrongdoing.
The assistant coach, David Saunders, received an eight year show-cause penalty from the NCAA. Saunders' name has also come up in a notice of allegations from his time as an assistant coach at Ole Miss.
