A former Erath High School principal has turned in his application for the position of school system superintendent in Lafayette Parish.

Francis Touchet, Jr., was principal of the school when it was the number one public high school in the state of Louisiana, according to KATC-TV 3.

"I'm extremely excited about this opportunity to bring my experiences as a teacher, as a coach, as an assistant principal, as a principal, and as a leader in the state of Louisiana to Lafayette Parish," Touchet told the television station.

Touchet has been working as an educational leader for the last three years with several school districts in an effort to improve school and district performance scores.
