Fugitive from Bastrop Arrested after Barricading Himself in Opelousas Home
32-year-old Eric Wilson of Bastrop - a violent fugitive wanted for probation violation and several violent crimes committed in Morehouse Parish - is behind bars after barricading himself inside a home in the Opelousas area on Thursday when St. Landry Parish Sheriff's deputies tried to execute the outstanding warrant on him.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says in a press release that Wilson had several high powered rifles that belonged to him with him in the house located in the 600 block of Herman Street. Sheriff's deputies with the S.W.A.T. Team and the Criminal Investigation Division worked with the Opelousas Police Department on the arrest.
There is no bond set at this time as Wilson faces the following charges:
- Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number
- Hold for Morehouse Parish for Attempted Second Degree Murder
- Criminal Conspiracy
- Carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Resisting an Officer
