The I-49 Connector Community Work Group members will meet tonight, and the I-49 Technical advisory committee members will meet tomorrow morning on the various aspects of planning and designing the 5 and a half mile project that will part of the plan to bring Interstate 49 through Lafayette to New Orleans.

While the meeting tonight and tomorrow are for those committee members only, Deidre Druilhet with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says members of the public are welcome to observe the meetings and fill out comment cards.

Each of the committees are made up of representatives of the neighborhoods, businesses, government groups and community groups in that five and a half mile stretch that comprises the I-49 Connector Project.

You can find out more about the Lafayette I-49 Connector Project at http://lafayetteconnector.com.

The I-49 Connector Community Work Group will meet tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vermilioin Conference Center at 326 Gauthier Road.

Tomorrow's meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee Meeting will be held tomorrow morning from 10 o'clock until noon at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) at 211 E. Devalcourt Street.

The money to spend the year and a half studying the impact of this project on neighborhoods, businesses and other entities is coming from TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) Grant funding.
