Iowa Woman Dies In Drunken Driving Crash
Louisiana State Police Spokesman Trooper James Anderson say an Iowa woman is dead after the car she was riding in went off the road, through two ditches and ended up hitting a tree.
Anderson says 44-year-old Molly Frank was not wearing a seat belt, and was thrown out of the car.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office, and the driver, 34-year-old Randall Keith Laird II of Lake Charles, has been charged with vehicular homicide.
Laird received on minor injuries in the crash.
The single car crash happened around 12:30 this morning on Highway 3256 near Hungerford Road.
Anderson says alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in this crash, and that Laird performed poorly on a standardized fields sobriety tests.
Laird was also charged with DWI.
