The voters of Lafayette agreed to collect a temporary one cent sales tax for eight months for the purposes of constructing a new terminal at the Lafayette Regional Airport.

The tax generated approximately $30 million for the construction as the tax was collected from April to November of 2016.

Now, U.S. Senator John Kennedy's office reports that our airport will be receiving $10 million that will help further fund the project. The money will be in addition to an earlier $11.8 million grant that the airport received.

Kennedy says, "This grant is not only an investment for Lafayette's airport; this is an investment for the regional economy. The terminal construction project will improve the airport and promote more tourism and economic development for Acadiana."
