Crawfish Flee Pond and Cover Road in Louisiana Town
(Welsh, Louisiana) - Crawfish are everywhere these days, and one man traveling along a roadway in south Louisiana was shocked to see so many crawfish on the roadway.
Adam Viator posted the photos you can see here, and crawfish were everywhere on the road in Welsh, Louisiana.
He says he's seen an abundance of wildlife along this roadway, but he's never seen so many crawfish on the road until today. A colleague at the station reports that her driveway has been covered in crawfish lately, so apparently they're on the move.
Why Crawfish Leave Ponds?
Crawfish are known to leave ponds they may be in for several reasons. For one, when seasons begin to change, crawfish move.
They also flee ponds when the water temperatures change and when oxygen levels drop. Crwafish will exit the water to seek higher levels of oxygen, and can you blame them?

So, if you're traveling through Acadiana and see a lot of crawfish on the roadways, you're not the only one.. We do remind you that it is never safe to exit your vehicle to retrieve anything from the road.
As tempting as it may be to get out of your vehicle to scoop up some of the crawfish on the public roadway, it is also very dangerous. So, wave to them and continue on your way.
