Officials in St. Mary Parish arrested a 34-year-old mother this week after the woman left out something that the child ingested sending the toddler to the hospital according to KLFY.

We all know that children are very curious, and even when you think they are asleep, they might just wake up to go exploring in your home.

Morgan City Police Department officers were called out to the home on Apple Street at around 2 o'clock Wednesday morning to find that other first responders were already at the home.

According to officials, the mother of the child Rosizena Moore went to bed earlier in the night, and at some point, her two-year-old child awoke and was able to get their hands on THC gummies.

In addition to the bad situation, officials with the police department say the mother waited two hours after finding out what her child had eaten before she called anyone in to help.

Moore has been arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail on the following charges:

Second-degree cruelty to juveniles

Obstruction of justice

Illegal use of drugs in the presence of juveniles

Possession of Marijuana

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Failure to seek Assistance

Using drugs in a Drug-Free Zone

Officials say the child was taken to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.

When police searched the home they found suspected marijuana, other THC products along with drug paraphernalia.

In addition to these years, Moore apparently already had outstanding warrants as she is wanted by authorities at the Thibodaux Police Department. Officials say those warrants deal with traffic offenses.
