
Louisiana Could See More Snow Flurries as Arctic Air Returns
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Some in south Louisiana will be "Flake Watch" this weekend as another strong arctic front pushes into the southern region of the country.
If you haven't heard, another very strong cold front is coming back into play for Louisiana by the weekend, and the wind chill could dip close to the single digits. If you need to be outdoors this weekend, plan to wear proper layers with no skin exposed to the elements.
We rarely warn you about the risk of frostbite and hyperthermia in Louisiana, but if you are exposed to the elements for an extended period this weekend, you may be at risk. Yes, it will be that cold in Acadiana.
So, with frigid air moving in, you may ask if we will see snow once again in Louisiana, and the answer is yes, it is possible. However, we may only see a few snow flurries by Saturday morning, and you should not expect any accumulation or travel issues across much of south Louisiana.
Last Sunday evening, we saw snow flurries sweep across parts of Acadiana, and there is a chance some could see more as the next strong cold front pushes into the area.
If your pipes are wrapped, keep them wrapped through the weekend, and please DO NOT leave your pets outdoors. If pets are left outdoors this weekend, they will die. If you see anyone leaving their pets out in the elements, contact your local authorities immediately.
