Ragin Cajun softball opened play in the Longhorn Invitational on Friday afternoon with a game against Louisiana in-state rival McNeese State. The final score in that game was Louisiana 7 and McNeese 1.  Karly Heath had the big hit of the game in the first inning with a three-run home run and the Cajuns never looked back. In Louisiana's second game of the day they faced the 11th-ranked Longhorns of the University of Texas. The Cajuns did not fare as well in that contest although things were looking bright for Louisiana as they held a 2-0 lead through the first three innings. Texas tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and then had a big inning in the 5th where they added four more runs. That was all the scoring in this contest. The final score was Louisiana 2 and Texas 6. For a recap of that game, you can click here.

On Friday night in Lafayette the Ragin Cajun Baseball team opened play in the first of three games against the Campbell Camels. The Camels came into the series with a red-hot record of six wins against only one loss. In Friday's action at Tigue Moore Field, the Camels showed why they need to be taken seriously.

The game was tied at one after the first full inning. The Camels took the lead in the 4th inning by plating two runs. The Cajuns countered with a single run in the bottom of that same frame. Campbell was able to tack on two more runs in the top of the 7th inning which led us to the eventual final score of Campbell 5-Louisiana 2.  For a recap of that game, you can click here.

Ragin Cajun Baseball, Ragin Cajun Softball, and Ragin Cajun Men's Basketball are all in action today (Saturday). Read more to find out when they play and how to listen.

[Original Story]If you happen to encounter any staff member of Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns Athletic Department on Monday, you'll have to excuse the bleary eyes and the tired expressions. That's because those ladies and gentlemen will be coming off a very active college sports weekend.

Cajun Baseball, Cajun Softball, and the Ragin Cajun's Men's Basketball team all have busy weekends and we want you to know how you can keep up with the Cajuns all weekend long.

Where Can I Hear Ragin Cajuns Baseball?

First of all, if you can make it out to Russo Park in Lafayette this weekend, you should. The weather is going to be wonderful and Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns have been playing well. This weekend Cajuns welcome another team with a unique mascot to South Louisiana. The Cajuns will host the Fighting Campbell Camels.

The Camels hail from Buies Creek North Carolina, cue the banjo music, and play in the Big South Conference. They will be in Lafayette for a three-game series against Louisiana beginning Friday night. The first pitch is set for 6 PM. Saturday's game, also at Russo Park will begin at 2 PM and the series finale on Sunday will start at 1 PM.

All games can be heard on Newstalk 96.5 KPEL-FM or on the KPEL-FM App.

All of this weekend's action can be heard on 103.3 The GOAT (also available at 1420 on the AM dial). You can also catch the action on the 103.3 The GOAT App. Cody Junot will handle the play-by-play story for all of the Cajun's contests in Texas this weekend.

Where Can I Hear Ragin Cajun Basketball?

Unfortunately for the Ragin Cajuns women's team, the season is over. They lost earlier this week in Sun Belt Tournament action in Pensacola. The Men have yet to take the court in the boy's brackets. The Cajuns are the number two seed and their opponent will be Georgia Southern. That team defeated ULM last night in tournament action.

The Louisiana versus Georgia Southern game will be played Saturday night at 7:30. Jay Walker will be on the play-by-play call. You can catch the game on Newstalk 96.5 KPEL-FM or the Newstalk 96.5 KPEL App on your smartphone.  Because we like the Cajuns chances we do expect them to be in action on Sunday at 7:30 taking on either the Thundering Herd of Marshall or the Bobcats of Texas State.

When the Cajuns advance to Championship Monday (do you like our confidence?). That action will take place at 6 PM. Of course, Louisiana's opponent has yet to be determined but it wouldn't surprise us if the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship comes down to Louisiana versus Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are the top seed in the tournament.

In the unlikely event that the Cajuns aren't playing basketball on Monday, Ragin Cajun fans can join us for The Coaches Show. That takes place at Pete's on Johnston and you're invited to be a part of the crowd or if you can't make it out, you can listen in on 103.3 The GOAT (also 1420 AM).

Can we get a GEAUX CAJUNS? We thought so.
