Maybe it's the warm tropical sun, maybe it's the soft sea air, maybe it's the copious amounts of alcohol available on today's modern cruise ship but let's face it, when Louisiana folks go on vacation, they go on vacation. And for some that might mean allowing their "moral compass" to spin a little more freely. And what's the deal with the pineapples?

If you've ever sailed on a cruise ship out of New Orleans you know the party gets started as soon as you get your ship's card. And that's when cruise guests from Shreveport, Hessmer, Ferriday, and many other towns find themselves transported from their mundane day-to-day lives into a world that only a Kardashian could love.

Of course with all of the external stimuli, the free-flowing booze, and the fact that you're on vacation it's only natural that couples find themselves in the mood for love. And that's great, that's what cruise vacations are for. They help you rediscover or rekindle your romance. And, if you're traveling with kids, the cruise lines have programs to keep them busy while Mom and Dad get busy. You know discussing taxes and whatnot.

The romantic mood of a vacation at sea is often enhanced by the fact that if you have a balcony stateroom, you can "do it" with the door open, the windows open, the breeze blowin', and as long as you're on the open ocean and not out on your balcony you'll have all the privacy you need.

But when you're not on the open ocean and in port, your balcony stateroom could suddenly become "must-see TV" for the staterooms on the ship next door. An incident involving passengers and an intimate encounter was recently discussed on a cruise-focused podcast.

Cruise News Today host Doug Parker reported a couple on board a Carnival ship in port forgot to close the curtains on their balcony stateroom and thanks to the way lighting in cruise cabins is engineered they managed to put on a show for the vessel next door.

The same can be said of having the curtains open when you're getting dressed. Sure it's nice to have the fresh air in the stateroom but those prying eyes while you're prying on your jeans may not be the best way to start your cruise day. Then again, some people bring pineapples on cruise ships and that's a whole other story.
