Louisiana Named One of the Naughtiest States in America

LOUISIANA (KMDL-FM) - It's that time of year where Santa is making his list and checking it twice so he can find out who's naughty or nice. Unfortunately, according to a new survey, Louisiana has landed on the naughty list for 2025.

Not only is Louisiana on the naughty list, but we landed inside of the top 10 naughtiest states in America.

Why Is Louisiana On The Naughty List?

The gang over at Little Sleepies, the family pajama brand, has released their official "Naughty or Nice Index" for 2025, and Louisiana has landed inside the top 10, taking the number 7 spot on the list.

Little Sleepies analyzed holiday behavior nationwide, combining survey responses from 1,800 Americans on topics like holiday Google search trends, tipping rates, volunteerism, re-gifting and self-gifting behaviors, and more.

To build our Naughty or Nice Index, we combined insights from our national survey of 1,800 Americans with Google Trends data for seven holiday-related searches, including Secret Santa generator, DIY gifts, and toy drives. Each state earned a score from -100 to 100, reflecting a mix of generosity, etiquette, and seasonal enthusiasm.

The "Naughty or Nice Index" for 2025 found that Mississippi tops the nice list with a score of 98.56.

By comparison, Louisiana scored a -37.84 on the -100 to 100 scale.

Louisiana's low ranking is a result of lower volunteering participation, limited charitable giving, and more instances of “naughty” holiday habits compared to other states.
