Large Police Presence After Teen Fights At Lafayette Sky Zone
A large police response shut down activity at Sky Zone on Ambassador Caffery Saturday night after multiple fights broke out among groups of teenagers.
Witnesses reported seeing dozens of police units responding to the scene as chaos unfolded both inside and outside the facility. Videos circulating online show teens fighting, running through parking lots, and officers attempting to regain control.
Some teens were later seen gathering near nearby businesses and along roadways after being cleared from the property.
Witnesses Describe Chaotic Scene
Several people who say they were at the scene described a situation that escalated quickly.
“I was there for the whole incident,” one witness wrote online. “Teens were fighting, running in and out, arguing with cops and cursing them out. I never seen nothing like that at a place for kids.”
Another parent said their child, who works at the facility, was left shaken.
“My kid got in the car and just started sobbing. People locked themselves in party rooms. Fights everywhere,” the parent shared.
Parents Question Supervision Policies
A major concern echoed across hundreds of comments was the number of teens reportedly dropped off without adult supervision.
“Unaccompanied minors happened. Parents need to do better. They are not babysitters,” one commenter wrote.
Others suggested stricter policies could help prevent future incidents.
“They need to start enforcing better supervision, especially at night. Require minors to be accompanied by an adult,” another parent said.
Some parents said the incident confirmed their own decisions to avoid drop-offs entirely.
“I always stay with my child,” one parent shared. “Things can get out of hand fast.”

Debate Over Police Response
The police response has also sparked debate online, with opinions being mixed.
Some defended officers, saying they were dealing with an overwhelming situation involving teenagers who were just as able-bodied as adults.
“If they’re not going to calm down, what are police supposed to do?” one commenter wrote. “At least nobody was seriously hurt.”
Others questioned the tactics used, particularly in videos showing physical force and reports of pepper spray.
Despite the disagreement, many acknowledged the situation had escalated beyond control before officers arrived.
A Growing Concern Beyond Lafayette
Many parents pointed out that similar incidents have been reported at trampoline parks across the country.
Some referenced so-called “takeover” trends where large groups of teens coordinate meetups that can quickly spiral into fights and disorder.
“It’s a new trend going around the country,” one commenter said. “Kids swarm places like this and it gets out of hand.”
Bigger Questions For Parents And Businesses
The incident opened up a bigger conversation about responsibility and safety.
- Should businesses enforce stricter supervision rules?
- At what age is it appropriate to drop teens off without an adult?
- And how should situations like this be handled when they escalate?
For many parents, it was an easy takeaway.
“Stop dropping kids off like it’s a daycare,” one commenter wrote. “If you were there with them, you wouldn’t have to worry about how it’s handled.”
