In an unfortunate incident in Carencro, Louisiana, a one-year-old child has passed away due to a gunshot wound. The Carencro Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to a residence at 237 Prejean Rd. on Saturday, October 28, shortly after 7 p.m. in response to a shooting.

Upon their arrival, officials discovered the young child with a gunshot injury. According to KLFY News 10, prompt efforts were made to transport the child to a nearby hospital, but tragically, the child could not be saved and was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings from the authorities indicate that the gunshot occurred when the child's father was handling a firearm. During this time, a single bullet was inadvertently discharged, tragically striking the child. As the investigation unfolds, the identity of the child’s father remains withheld from the public.
