Lafayette Police in Standoff Following Stabbing Incident Near Saint Streets
Early on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024, Lafayette Police were called to a residence at 618 St. Camille Street following a report of a stabbing. The incident, occurring at approximately 6:25 a.m., left one individual injured but with non-life-threatening injuries.
First responders provided immediate medical aid to the victim on the scene before they were transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance. The situation escalated when the suspect involved in the stabbing barricaded themselves inside the residence, prompting a significant response from law enforcement.
The Lafayette Police Department deployed its SWAT Team and Negotiator Team to the location to address the standoff. These specialized units are currently engaged in efforts to ensure a safe resolution to the incident.
