26-year-old Jonas Hawk of Jeanerette faces 15 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder following a shooting Tuesday afternoon outside of a home in the 2200 block of N. Neco Town Road.

Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Col. Wendell Raborn says the 8-year-old victim was with a group of people when Hawk – identified by witnesses - allegedly pulled up in a gray vehicle and began shooting into the group.

Investigators learned from witnesses that there was an ongoing dispute between Hawk and the victim’s uncle. The uncle was included in the group of 15 people.

The victim is in critical condition in a Baton Rouge hospital. Hawk was found by the Jeanerette City Marshals and eventually booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. No bond has been set at this time.
