57 year old Hamp Michael Penson of Lafayette was arrested by the Lafayette Police Department today and charged with attempted second degree murder along with other charges. Penson was originally being sought for domestic abuse battery, second degree battery and false imprisonment for a domestic dispute that happened on March second.

The attempted second degree murder charge came about from the stabbing of man in the 300 block of Madison Street on Wednesday, March 2. Penson allegedly stabbed the victim three times and fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated. Motive behind the stabbing remains under investigation.
