Lafayette Is Getting a New Chick-Fil-A in One Very Key Location
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) - Chick-Fil-A locations across Lafayette are almost always busy (and it seems like there is always traffic because of it). The chicken sandwich joint is one of the most popular fast food locations in the country, and Lafayette is no exception.
But a new location is opening up, and arguably in one of the most important locations you can find one - right at our local university.
The University of Louisiana Student Union seems to be gearing up to be the newest location for the chain, which has four other locations in Lafayette. Food services at UL posted a teaser on Facebook, indicating the Student Union locations would be opening soon.
The news of a new Chick-Fil-A came back in February of this year, when The Advocate broke the story.
We’re always looking for ways that we can up our ante when it comes to offering students, faculty, and staff better food options,” Pat Mould, director of food and beverage operations at UL, told The Advocate earlier this year. “We’re trying to stack up with other universities within a state when it comes to offering different food, dining, and beverage options.”
This new location will make five Chick-fil-A restaurants in Lafayette. There are also two other Acadiana locations, one in Opelousas and another in New Iberia.
Perfect Timing, Too
Chick-fil-A, which is known for its iconic chicken sandwiches and those incredibly long drive-thru lines that never seem to get shorter, is going to be adding a new deluxe sandwich, starting June 10. That sandwich will add some smoky, spicy, and sweet flavors to the already popular sandwiches the store sells.
Called a "Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich," Chick-fil-A previously ran a limited-run of the sandwich is a few markets, but according to food influencer @markie_devo, it's coming to stores nationwide.
"It is made with our lemon-herb marinated boneless chicken breast and grilled for a juicy backyard-smoky taste," the company writes on its website. "It’s accompanied by Pepper Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce and bacon, hand-tossed in a brown sugar and pepper blend. Topped with sweet & spicy pickle chips, the ingredients are all sandwiched between two maple flavored brioche buns."
According to the social media post above, the restaurant's seasonal peach milkshake is also expected to make a return.
It's been just under a year since the restaurant introduced its last smashing success of a seasonal sandwich, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich. It had a limited run marked by rave reviews online and a lot of new fans of the franchise.
