The Lafayette Parish Public School System provides online resources to parents to help their children with their homework.

The problem, according to some Lafayette School Board members: many parents have no clue these resources are available.

The LPSS website provides links for parents with children in all grade levels to help them with their child's math homework in particular. With the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, many parents have relayed stories about their students' struggles with the math curriculum.

But at a recent workshop, board member Justin Centanni--who said he considered himself an involved parent--said he wasn't even aware of these resources, which also includes video presentations.

School system administrators said they are brainstorming ideas to make these help guides more widely known.
