LessPay Motel to be Torn Down For Affordable Housing Project
The LessPay Motel on University Avenue at Cameron Street in Lafayette is being torn dorn.
According to the Daily Advertiser, the two-story motel will be replaced for an affordable housing project geared toward artists. This was confirmed by Josh Collen, senior vice president of development services with HRI Properties of New Orleans, to the news outlet.
Collen says the company has three pieces of property under a sales contract – the former motel, a metal building and a 28,000-square-foot warehouse that was once a Coca-Cola bottling and distribution plant.
HRI is hoping the twelve months-worth of construction projects will begin breaking ground in the Spring of 2019, with a finish date in the Spring or Summer of 2020.
