Loreauville Man Dies from Injuries Sustained in Crash

24-year-old Bryson Provost of Loreauville has died from injuries he received in a late-night crash on September 14. The single-vehicle crash happened on LA Highway 3242 near Walet Road in Iberia Parish.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen says Provost lost control of the vehicle, for unknown reasons, ran off the roadway and overturned after hitting an embankment.

A juvenile was in the front seat as a passenger. Both Provost and the juvenile were unrestrained at the time of the crash. The juvenile was also put into the hospital in critical condition.

Gossen says impairment is unknow but standard toxicology samples are being analyzed.

Speed is believed to be a major factor as the investigation continues.

"Troopers witness, firsthand, the effects crash forces have on motor vehicles and the devastating effects of those forces on the human body," says Gossen in a press release. "While not all crashes are survivable, proper seat belt usage can greatly increase the chances of surviving a crash by spreading out those forces across the strong bones of the body. Properly worn seat belts also help to keep the occupants of vehicles in their seat and protect the head and spine. Please be a responsible driver, obey speed limits, drive sober, buckle up, and avoid all distractions."
