Louisiana Mother Arrested After Child Spotted Trying to Escape Car
A mother in Louisiana was arrested Monday morning after police were dispatched to a vehicle with a child in it and attempting to escape.
Kenner Police posted a photo of officers with the child they rescued from the vehicle Monday morning. The child's mother, Azreil Rahman was arrested for child desertion.
Rahman was reportedly shopping in a retail store on Williams Boulevard when bystanders noticed the 1-year-old child locked in the car.
The car's sunroof was open and those who called 911 to report the child in the car relayed the message that the child was attempting to escape the vehicle via the open sunroof.
The child was later turned over to family members and the mother was transported to jail.
Here's the message from the Kenner Police Department that was posted on social media:
"Thank you to all the people that called 911 and looked out for the welfare of this baby. Had he made it out of the car, through the sunroof, a fall from that height could prove fatal. There are no words to express the shock and anger over this so we will leave it at that. said Chief Conley. This is a CRIME. I can't stress that enough!"
Here are the officers with the child once the child was safely removed from the car. This photo was shared online by the Kenner Police Dept.
