A mother in Louisiana is livid after her 6-year-old child was told to clean up her feces on the floor of the school she attends.

WAFB reports that Jamisha Augustine is asking why her daughter, who has a dairy allergy, was told to clean up feces on the floor after she had an accident at school.

The student consumed milk one morning, making her sick, and when the child asked to go to the restroom, she was allegedly told that she could not go back to the restroom because she had gone too many times that morning. It was then that the 6-year-old defecated on herself.

Augustine told the Baton Rouge news station that at the beginning of the school year, she filled out the form notifying the school of her child's condition, yet they still did not allow her child to go to the restroom after consuming the milk.

The incident happened at Rollins Place Elementary in Zacahary, and now the Superintendent of Schools says that school staff will be retrained to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.

However, the mother of the child wants to know why her kid was forced to clean up her feces from the floor, without any gloves. She says that a janitor with the proper equipment should have been called in to address the "accident" her child had.

Superintendent of Zachary Community Schools Ben Necaise had this to say about the incident when talking to WAFB-TV:

You learn from mistakes. You take ownership, accept them, and try to do what’s right by the child and parent. In hindsight, they realized that was not an appropriate step. We do have safety precautions that we have to abide by, and again a child should never be put in that situation to have to deal with that.”

The news station reports that when they were talking to Augustine about the incident at her child's school, the school district called her and offered her a formal apology.
