Louisiana Pastor On House Arrest Defies Law, Holds Church Today
A Louisiana Pentecostal church pastor who was put on house arrest last week defied the law again by attending church services in the town of Central. The Advocate reports that Tony Spell's ankle bracelet could be seen this morning through the cuff of his pants. The pastor is at the center of a religious rights fight with state officials who have banned large gatherings in response to COVID-19.
Last week, Spell was arrested after allegedly threatening to run over a protestor with a church bus. Video of his arrest went viral after local authorities say they had to block a press conference the pastor was trying to have.
