While residents in Louisiana are looking forward to reopening the state, the Governor and Secretary of State are delaying more activities.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced today that he will be delaying the state's Presidential Primary for a second time. This time the delay will move voting into July.

This move will also impact a second election day. The voting originally scheduled for July 25th will not be rescheduled for August 15th.

The Presidential Primary in Louisiana will look a lot different that it would have during it's originally scheduled date on April 4th. The centerpiece of the 2020 Presidential Primaries is the Democratic race for the Presidential nomination. If the election was held on its original day, both Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders would have been involved in a high contested race. However, Senator Sanders has now dropped out of the race, clearing a path for Biden to take the nomination. That move effectively takes the teeth out of Louisiana's Presidential Primary for this year.
