One Louisiana law enforcement official is issuing what he is calling an "Urgent Public Safety Notice" dealing with images of minors posted on social media sites being used by someone to distort them using an AI so that the minors appear nude.

Unfortunately, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, a case being investigated in Georgia has implications here in Louisiana.

The arrested subject did possess social media photos of at least two minors that reside in St. Landry Parish. It is not yet known if these particular photos have been altered in any way, as the investigation in Georgia is ongoing.

This is the reality for two families in St. Landry Parish as Guidroz says the photos were found in the possession of a Georgia school vendor who was arrested. St. Landry Parish juvenile detectives were notified the photos were discovered. We don't have other details about the circumstances of that case.

Guidroz also wanted the public to know that the suspect in that case had photos of at least two students. The investigation continues to unfold, and we will continue to update the story if any other victims have been identified.

The Sheriff says in the Georgia case, that person was arrested for having possession of photos of minors that had allegedly been altered to make the juveniles appear nude. He adds,

Despite all of the positive ways social media can be utilized, there will always be individuals who intend to pervert the images and information presented for their own illegal use. Parents and guardians must continue to be vigilant in monitoring of social media use and educating our youth on its pitfalls.

If anyone has information about this or any other crime, they are asked to call the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-948-6516.
