LPSS: Myrtle Place Student Did Not Have Firearm On Campus
The Lafayette Parish School System is debunking reports of a Myrtle Place Elementary student carrying a firearm on campus Wednesday.
The release, distributed by LPSS Academic Specialist Randy Bernard, stated administrators were made aware that a student might have had a weapon on campus.
When administrators investigated, they found a student had brought "an inoperable Airsoft BB gun" concealed in a backpack.
The BB gun was confiscated and the student was disciplined according to LPSS guidelines.
"At no time was there a firearm on campus, and no student or faculty member was ever at risk," the release stated.
