Man Assaults Boy, 13, For Not Removing His Hat For Anthem
A Montana man has been arrested for assaulting a 13-year-old boy at local fairgrounds.
According to KBZK, Kurt Brockway picked up the child and slammed him to the ground for not removing his hat during the playing of the National Anthem.
The child suffered temporal skull fractures, injuries serious enough to warrant being airlifted to a hospital. The child's parents said that his ear bled for approximately 6 hours after the assault.
KBZK reports that this isn't Brockway's first arrest: in 2011, he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with a weapon.
I am all about respecting our country, but to assault someone for expressing their right to NOT respect their country is not OK. Especially when the assault is directed toward a juvenile.
It appears that Mr. Brockway doesn't want to give others the same rights he enjoys. What's fair about that?
I hope that Mr. Brockway takes anger management classes and takes time to study the Constitution, maybe he'll realize that it doesn't allow any exceptions when it comes to which law-abiding citizens it protects.
Is this a case of nationalism? Did this assault stem from a love for country greater than reason? (You must admit that it ISN'T reasonable to body slam a 13-year-old).
Nationalism, in this instance, is dangerous.
