Man Dies In Patterson House Fire

A 78-year-old man is dead after a house fire around 2:40 yesterday morning at 136 Shady Grove Drive in Patterson.  State investigators says firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames when they got to scene.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says the only survivor of the fire told investigators that she was awakened during the night by her husband and the sound of smoke detectors.  The woman told investigators that the bedding under them was on fire, and that her husband stayed behind trying to put out the flames.  His body was later found in the area of the master bedroom.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning stated, "We have no conclusion at this time, but we will be working in hopes of finding answers to this tragic loss of life."
