MONROE, La. (AP) — A 23-year-old Monroe woman has been accused of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

The News-Star reports Monroe detectives arrested Roslynn Eleam on Wednesday.

Sgt. Mark Johnson says an investigation showed that an 8-month-old boy was taken to a local emergency room with a suspected broken leg on Monday. The investigation discovered suspicious circumstances and statements made by Eleam about the child falling from a couch.

It's alleged that Eleam waited almost 48 hours before getting treatment for the boy.

Eleam was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center with bond pending. The boy was released to Child Protective Services after receiving treatment.

It was unclear whether Eleam has an attorney.
