ZACHARY, La. (AP) — Deputies have arrested a Zachary woman after a medical examination revealed her 2-year-old son had multiple "obvious human bite marks" on his body and was suffering from bleeding in the brain caused by intentional trauma.

Media outlets report 20-year-old Doneisha Carter took the boy to an emergency room in December because he was vomiting, complaining of a headache, wouldn't eat and was possibly having seizures.

An East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's report says a CAT scan showed bleeding in the boy's brain. Doctors said the bleeding was caused by intentional trauma and likely not the result of seizure activity.

A doctor also found multiple human bite marks on different parts of the boy's body, all in different stages of healing.

Carter was arrested for second-degree cruelty to juveniles.
