Arrest Made Pertaining To Death Of Lafayette Infant In January
In January of this year, Lafayette Police were called out to a hospital after their staff reported that a 5-month-old girl had died.
When detectives got to the hospital, they were informed that the child had died from accidentally suffocating at her home on Zim Circle.
The investigation began, and police were told by the little girl's mother that the child had died after covering her head with a plastic shopping bag.
The mother told police that she found the child not breathing and took her to the hospital.
On March 31, detectives say they got some new information on the case and that prompted them to get an arrest warrant for 1st Degree Murder for the mother.
20-year-old Raven Senegal was arrested Wednesday in Alexandria. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
