27-year-old Desiree Olivier of New Iberia and 54-year-old Brian Joseph of New Orleans have each been arrested on multiple counts of Medicaid Fraud, according to Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry.

Joseph and Olivier were both arrested by the Louisiana Department of Justice's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Olivier is accused of allegedly submitting falsified timesheets and service logs for overlapping services on two clients - amounting to $674.12 paid by the Medicaid program for services not rendered. She faces 2 counts of Medicaid Fraud.

Joseph, who was arrested on 4 counts of Medicaid Fraud, allegedly provided falsified service logs for time he was also working as a fulltime teacher in the Jefferson Parish School System - amounting to $6,937.29 paid by the Medicaid program for services not rendered.

"Welfare fraud not only jeopardizes resources from our most needy but it also steals from our taxpayers," said Landry. "From provider fraud to recipient fraud, all Medicaid fraud is wrong; and I will continue to do all that I legally can to stop it.

"My MFCU frequently relies on the public's help to expose criminals so I once again ask the public for their assistance," added General Landry. "Please report Medicaid fraud and abuse or neglect in residential care facilities by calling 888-799-6885 or visiting www.AGJeffLandry.com."
